"No Stockings? No American chums? Fear not girls; for you can knit a pair of socks instead. Make use of those scraps of wool from your knitting basket and you too can own such a dashing pair of socks. Such a boon to anyones wardrobe and more to the point they will save those precious coupons of yours! They are just the ticket for these chilly and snow filled days we are having this winter. Perfect for wearing with your country tweeds, slacks and sports wear. So easy to knit as well, for they are knitted on two needles and the two colour pattern is easily worked by slipping stitches on every row. I'm sure you'll love them so much that you will want to make several pairs!"

Here's a great link to a pair of ankle socks- just in case anyone fancies knitting a pair of their own...

I have never knitted a pair of socks before but my husband keeps begging me to do a few pairs for him. These are SO cute! I love the idea of using left-over scraps for socks. :)
ReplyDeleteI just cannot motivate myself to knit socks, pretty as these are. Well done you. x
ReplyDeleteSo cute and so very you!
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute, so you, and soooo perfect for this frightfully chilly time of the year when one's toesies are always on the nippy side.

Lovely socks. Thanks for the pattern link. Think I will have a go, have never tried to knit socks before.
ReplyDeleteI am a beginner, do you think l could do them? I'm going to a knit and natter group next week. x
ReplyDeleteAlmost every woman I knew when I was young knitted socks, on four needles, and they were never out of their hands. Even when collecting in the cows one of my Aunts would knit, she had one of those belt things that go round the waist to keep it stable. But she was a Shetlander and they used to use these a lot.
ReplyDeleteSigh. If only I could!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to knit my own socks. My feet get so cold in the winter. These are freally cute!
