The Apprentice and the Sweetheart.

Oh deary me, it's the 18th of the New Year and this is my very first post! Not doing too well am I.
I'm a naughty young miss for missing the last two R.A.F Fridays, but thankfully for me I was given three things at Christmas suitable to show and tell in the New let's get cracking eh!

First Up is this Plexiglas beauty. It's quite the whopper too, with a 5 inch wing span!  It is also pleasingly chunky too... nothing flimsy about this one... well, apart from the pin, which needs mending. Fear not, for Pappa says he can fix it. And if all else fails, I'll just sew it onto a bit of material and stitch a safety pin to it, or I could make a bracket for it...

"My wings are bigger than yours.... "

I know it now belongs to me, but I'm still rather jealous of the original recipient of these wings.... what must it feel like to have someone make you such a token...? I was totally overwhelmed by my Ma and Pa buying them for me. :) So I'd probably pass out if they were made especially for me!!!

My second and third offering came as a duo. These little crackers belonged to a man who worked as an apprentice at Rolls Royce (Darby) during the war. Apparently he stayed with them throughout his working life as a Draughtsman.
Tis a nice bit of information to know at any rate!

This is my fourth penny/coin plane. You can never have too many if you ask me! I'm just building up my squadron!!! Which reminds me, I must carry on and finish making my penny Lancaster - probably a bit too ambitious, but hay ho...  if it looks rubbish, it looks rubbish!

The layered plastic one looks delicious- just like a sweet! Yum!
Well, there you are; a couple of my Christmas pressies from Ma and Pa. Such a lucky girlie, eh!
Hope you have a marvellous weekend...

  1. Oh you are a lucky girlie! Those wings... I'm not jealous, I swear! :) Enjoy the snow Tups x

  2. What lovely items. They are all so lovely but for colour alone, my favourite has to be the "sweet" plane - so pretty. Charming piece of artwork, you are very talented :-)

  3. Holy moly, those are all sooo swoon-worthy. Lucky gal!!

P.S. Did you draw that illustration? It's fantastic.

  4. Five inch wings, oh my, that is so very awesome! I love the fact that these wings are clear, thus one will still be able to see the fabric beneath that hefty wingspan. Thank you for sharing your latest R.A.F treasures with us - I'll be daydreaming about all of these brooches for a long time to come.

  5. Super, it's nice having the bit of back story too.

Ta very much for your messages folks!
