...And another one gone, and another one gone…. Another one
bites the dust (Hey, Hey!) from the knitting pile! < Please re-read this last bit and imagine
Freddie Mercury on vocals and John Deacon on bass- it works sooo much better!
Yay! I've nearly
finished my 1939 zipper. I say "nearly" because I still have a sleeve
head to knit first. Then.... (cue a bloodcurdling scream for dramatic emphasis) I have to sew it up and crochet some stripy boarders (eek), which, needless to
say, I’m not looking forward to.
Oh and I need to find a zip (that might help seeing as it has a zip down the front!), and buy some contrasting wool for the boarders...
Tis and odd post really, but I'm super happy about nearing the end of another project and just had to tell someone about it!
Ol' grumpy chops knitting in the gardinks.

No doubt I will be back in a year or so to show
off my finished zipper. ;)

He, I've seen that color shortly ago! Great color, that will look perfect on you. Good combo with your yesterday's post, for around the shoulders on chilly evenings! Curious for the finished project!
ReplyDeleteYes, it’s a very similar colour to another of my knits, but the wool was so cheap I just couldn’t leave it behind! I never thought about wearing it with yesterday's skirt... good idea that! :0
DeleteYou didn't even need to ask us to imagine Freddie singing, I was already belting it out when I read the title! So how exactly is this finished dear Tupps? :) It does look like a smasher, and a lovely colour you've chosen too. Like the dress Tupps - Very green with envy to see you ka'knitting outdoors as it's rained here today, good for the veg, but bad for sunbathing!
ReplyDeleteHehe, well I did say it was “nearly” finished! The dress is a modern affair (shock). Mammy brought it home the other day and I thought it was just lovely. Has a certain vintage/ mid 40’s junior miss feel to it I thought! :) Don't worry the nice weather didn't last long- it has been piddling down for the entire afternoon.. meh :(
DeleteI love that color! You look adorable while working on your project! Cannot wait to see the finished product!! xox
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a lot of hard work!

It occurred to me. I just read this book, written by someone I follow on Twitter, Astor Place Vintage. The entire time, I was imagining one of the main characters with your face and build.
ReplyDeleteSO glad that mystery is solved. I couldn't think of where I saw the face that kept popping into my head.
Make sure you share the completed article, please. Can't knit for toffee but always love to see what others have made.
ReplyDeleteThat colour is amazing! Knitting, that's another thing I bought all the stuff to learn how to do and never touched!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your zip hunt! That's a stunning colour.
ReplyDeleteCan't beat a bit of Queen!!
ReplyDeleteAh, what beautiful knitting. A lovely colour and such neat. I love looking at the things you make because they are always so authentic. I've not seen a jumper with a zip so I look forward to seeing the finished item xx
Good progress! I am loving the knitting needle bag! Envy...
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! I know just what you mean about that rounding-the-last-bend, homestretch in your sights kind of feeling that comes as you near the end of a lengthy project. It's almost like (even if you very much enjoyed said project) your whole mind and body is sighing a collective sigh of relief that you can finally see how things will look when all is said and done.
