Hullo Folks,
A quick post to show off today’s frock.
Made by Ma last summer from an early 40’s pattern (1940 actually- can’t get much earlier than that, hey!). I don’t actually think I have worn it that much- several times last year, and today being the first for this year (first of many outings too)….honestly, I cant think why I haven’t worn it more as me thinks its rather jolly (if I do say so myself!)
I can never decide on photos so brace yourself (ready?) for a lot of painfully similar photos- I’m far too indecisive, sorry…. oh, and trust me for forgetting to get a back shot- just take my word for it that there's a nice back yoke and gathering detail thingy ma-bob!
Dodgy mannequin hands!

One legged Tups- no but really, where on earth is the other one!? |
The best pose-y wozey picture would have to be the blurred one- Tut, typical!
|
The poor tatty pattern- love the hats (sigh) and love the long sleeve version too (HINT- hint- HiNt mummy!)
|
By the way, please do feel free to invite me to a picnic or restaurant- I come with my own table cloth! Hehehe. Ah got to love big gingham check cottons…

I love it! I've been drooling over checks at my fabric store but I've been afraid that a whole check dress would look crazy but this is fabulous. By the way, your hair is divine! xoxo
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more, tis a rather jolly frock! Picnic and cycle next Sunday? xx
ReplyDeleteI want to tear that dress off you back and keep it for myself. It is lovely! And suits you amazingly well. Well done your mum xx
ReplyDeleteLove those green checks-so fresh!
ReplyDeleteOh I just love it!! I am a sucker for checks and plaids, too. You look great in it!

ReplyDelete(Whoops, messed up my last comment)
ReplyDeleteGingham has to be my favourite pattern. Your dress is just lovely!
Lucky girl to have a nice mom to sew you such an adorable dress. PS love the one legged picture.
ReplyDeleteYour dress looks so much like the one in the pattern – it's really lovely. It must've taken some skill on your mum's part to match the checks up at the seams so well.
ReplyDeleteYou have a really clever mum, love it! X
ReplyDeleteWhat a great dress! You look very period!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great dress and what a lovely clever mum and a very lucky daughter.
ReplyDeleteThe dress looks lovely on you.
It looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh what a lovely dress! Does your mum find original patterns problematic to work with at all? I have so many but so far I have been too afraid to tackle one! x
ReplyDeleteTis true, I indeed have a clever Ma- hehehe and I am very lucky!
ReplyDeleteMiss Meiow- I think she finds me more problematic than the sewing of the patterns!!!
I have just started sewing a 30’s pattern and it’s not a disaster…. Yet- and I’m not a sewing Susan. So I say ‘get them patterns oot and sew!!!’
Ta for the lovverly comments folks.
Tups x
Oh! My compliments to your Ma. I'm dying for this dress ....
ReplyDeletePerfect! You look just as slim and elegant in the dress as the girl in the illustration!
ReplyDeleteLooove this dress! I have a real weakness for Gingham1 your Ma did a fab job and I am sure your 30's creation will be wonderful too:)
ReplyDeleteOh gosh this dress is delightful! I am so jealous that your ma makes all these patterns!! She's not for hire is she? :P
